Ethics is a better word than Ideology. Particularly in the modern world - it is significant, whether in business, governance, social or public life. Ideology is good for capturing public interest for a cause or leading a mission. Often, it can take the wrong turn and be damaging to the world good.
Americanism can be an ideology but if it is not governed by ethics, the sheer power of material ambition can take the public on a path that could damage its goodwill, trust and relationships with the world.
The new found Chinese aspirations for a position in the global market is great so long as it is consistent with maintaining or creating benchmarks for quality and the overall purpose to engage its resources in industry and economy. Cautious as well that its yield does not convert to global powerplay. China is largess in knowledge, culture and civilisation at a time world needs that. Ideologies are great motivators so long as its goal would be to accomplish good not just for a set of people but for an evolving world order.

Americanism is defined by and exists because of the constitution. If the Constitution is supported and upheld, Americanism is alive and well. The Constitution is not idealism. It is the law and is the basis for everyone's success. Unfortunately greed and the thirst for power cause the government and the population to seek ways to avoid the Constitution destroying Americanism and setting up their own demise.
